1687 produces a series of half hour programs, The Facts broadcast on Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) channel 57 as well as on the web, e.g. blip.TV. The Facts uses our core ensemble playing improvised, and composed music and text and a volunteer technical crew. The series explores reality, e.g. sensations, emotions, and reasoning, etc. Each episode is an analysis of a theme – many of them with political implications.

Project Description: We are developing a marketing team for a web-based marketing/outreach for The Facts, and to disseminate information about the series artistic goals and issues, and technical resources/problems. Our aim is to create a website that is aesthetically pleasing and rich in tools and resources with particular emphasis on the needs of artists working in a variety of media. This marketing project provides an unusual opportunity to help market an expressively complex TV shows that reach as well as provide information about making TV shows that may be useful to other people interested in utilizing public access TV.

Description of Positions:
We are looking for three volunteers to help for us: develop and implement web marketing strategies and work plans, increase website visibility and traffic including ease of updating by 1687 staff, and redesign our website as necessary.

  1. Web site designer to help us re-design our existing site
  2. Marketing specialist(s) to help us develop and implement web marketing strategies and work plans targeting the diverse range of constituencies for the whole series and/or for specific episodes.
  3. Web marketer(s) to increase website visibility and traffic
  4. Volunteers should have a minimum of three years work/student experience and be skilled/interested in web marketing
    Required hours: 3-4 hours per week from your locale and from our home office. All positions are non-paying with the possibility of becoming paid depending on funding.
    Addendum: All volunteer names will published on the 1687 website and on promotional materials that feature a description of the website.
    College credit may be available to current students depending on your school’s internship credit policy.
