Volunteer Opportunity Details:

I'm interested in this opportunity

The GO Project shapes the futures of low-income New York City public school children by providing critical academic, social and emotional support starting in the early elementary years. GO provides year-round educational and family support services to children who are performing below grade level and equips them with the confidence and skills needed to succeed at school, at home and in life.

The GO Project’s year round programming includes GO Summer a five-week, full-day summer school program and GO School, an individualized tutoring program meeting on twenty-two Saturdays throughout the school year.

GO School
During our GO School, Saturday Tutorial Program a professional teacher models a lesson, activity or project to a classroom of students. Volunteer tutors continue to work with the students on the lesson in small groups of two to four students.

Time Commitment and location

Volunteers work with students in 1st-5th grade at one of our two locations (Grace Church School or Little Red School House and Elizabeth Irwin High School). Grace Church School is located at 86 Fourth Avenue between 10th and 11th Street. Little Red School House and Elizabeth Irwin High School are located at 272 Sixth Avenue at Bleecker Street.
