Volunteer Opportunity Details: |

Core Responsibilities:
• Perform reception and administrative tasks, including:
• Data entry and filing
• Preparation of newsletters and/or other materials
• Prepare mailings
• Online research
• Answer phones and intercom system as needed
• Greet clients as they arrive and direct them to appropriate sign-in area
• Develop a working knowledge of the center and the role of volunteers
• Provide recommendations to improve the center’s volunteer usage
Additional Tasks (may include):
• Conduct initial client screening
• Update program resources
• Distribute snacks and meals to children in waiting area
• Perform other related tasks assigned by Safe Horizon staff members
Qualifications:
• Willingness to give time, interest and energy to fulfill goals of the center
• Willingness to work in an environment where clients may be in distress
• Ability to work both independently and as part of the team
• Flexibility and willingness to work on a variety of tasks
• Strong interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with staff and clients
• Ability to work with a diverse staff and client population
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Application and screening process
• Background check
• Fingerprinting (varies by program)
• Review and sign confidentiality agreement
