Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Special Olympics New York. We thank you for your interest.

The New York City Regional Basketball and Aquatics Tournament features athletes from the five boroughs - roughly 400 - competing for gold, silver and bronze medals in two Special Olympics sports: aquatics and basketball (team and individual skills competitions). Opening Ceremonies will begin at 10:00am. The Medal Rounds of Competition are from 11:00am to 3:30pm.

Volunteer registration is from 8:30 to 9:30 am. Volunteer assignments are based on interest and need. Assignments can include set-up, athlete escorts (making sure athletes get to their appropriate sporting stations, eat lunch and remain hydrated), time-keeping, handing out awards, clean-up and fans in the stand (cheering athletes as they compete). We also need floaters.

Orientation will be provided for volunteers.

There are no physical requirements.

Volunteers must be flexible.
