Volunteer Opportunity Details:

I'm interested in this opportunity

The Medicare Rights Center has a fantastic volunteer opportunity for you that will dramatically improve the quality of life of low-income older New Yorkers. Become an Enrollment Program volunteer! Enrollment volunteers will help older New Yorkers get extra help with their prescription drug costs - an average savings of $2,800 a person a year. To put this savings in perspective, it represents about 25 percent of the annual income of an individual who qualifies.

Our enrollment volunteers assist our Enrollment Department staff. Together they help people with Medicare who have limited incomes enroll in programs that will save them money on their health care costs. Enrollment volunteers help process health care and prescription drug cost-saving applications on behalf of our hotline callers. This responsibility includes entering information into our databases, calling professionals and clients to request more documentation, and meeting with our Enrollment Department team to assist with the completion of applications

You will be trained to:

  • Help and advise people with low-incomes to get extra help paying for prescription drugs and health care costs via thorough training
  • Process entitlement program applications for limited-income individuals.

Make this happen for people with Medicare. Work with a group of energetic volunteers to get people enrolled in this important program.
