Volunteer Opportunity Details: |
|
If you like meeting people and you have good organizational skills, you might enjoy working in one of our thrift shops. Our shops sell high-quality, gently used women's, men's and children's clothing and accessories, housewares, knick-knacks, and anything under the sun that has been donated, as long as it's in good condition and fits into the store. All proceeds benefit the Staten Island Mental Health Society's services and programs for Staten Island children and families with special needs. No retailing experience is required, and it's a great way to meet people and help raise money for an important cause.
The two thrift shops are located in Great Kills and Tottenville. For more information on where volunteers are needed, please call Frances Hogan, Director of Community Relations, at 442-2225, Ext. 302
No retailing experience is necessary, although it would come in handy. Volunteers not only act as salespeople, but accept donations, inventory stock, change the racks seasonally, and keep track of sales.
This opportunity is sponsored by: Staten Island Mental Health Society, Inc.

Overall Experience

It was a wonderful opportunity to read to kindergarten classes.

Staten Island Mental Health Society gave me plenty of options to incorporate discussions about the books I read and how to use projects in regards to the books. This was a wonderful opportunity and I look forward to doing it again and I met wonderful people and made a contact. It was also rewarding.
